As a result of the current circumstances regarding the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the mental health and addictions, and primary health care sectors are experiencing an increase in demand. The Department of Health has asked the NBASW to help in this effort. As such, the NBASW are doing a call of interest for social workers who are willing and able to work in these capacities in the coming weeks. Please note that members added to this list will only be contacted by the NBASW if and when they are needed.
Social workers play a vital role in providing support and guidance in times of crises, and this is an important opportunity for social workers to help those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak in New Brunswick.
In order to facilitate this process, the NBASW will work with Non-Practicing Members to become Temporary Authorized Members with the Association, permitting those members to work within the scope of practice for a temporary period of time.
Additionally, the NBASW advises all members of the declaration of a State of Emergency by the Government of New Brunswick. This declaration is the basis for all direction on how social workers can operate during the State of Emergency. We encourage you to read it, as well as the NB OCMOH Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Guidance for Primary Care Providers in a Community Setting.
