The ABCs of Mindfulness

Acadian Peninsula, May 8 and June 4, 2018

A training session in the ABCs of Mindfulness took place over two days, May 8 and June 4, 2018. The training session, hosted by Services à la Famille de la Péninsule/CBPA Inc., was held at the Caraquet cultural centre. The training session was attended by 32 people, including 14 social workers. Johanne Webster, social worker, and Roger Leblanc, MA, CCC, provided the training.

Mindfulness is about intentionally paying attention to internal experiences (feelings, emotions, thoughts, state of mind) or external experience, in the moment, without making value judgments. During the two days of training, we explored the ABCs of mindfulness and their relationship to brain health, and the three major steps that comprise the basic principles of this state of being (ABC : awareness, balance, and compassion).

The training provided us with concrete tools and explanations to enable us to integrate mindfulness into our professional and personal lives. When the workshop was evaluated, 100% of the participants confirmed that the training met their expectations and that the tools presented were very relevant for work.
