The New Brunswick Medical Society is the professional association representing and serving all 2,000+ practicing future, and retired physicians in the province of New Brunswick. We are currently recruiting a Wellness Program Specialist to join our dynamic team.


Under the supervision of the Manager of NBMS Wellness, the Wellness Program Specialist holds a key position within the New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS), significantly contributing to the health and wellness of our physician and medical student members. As the first point of contact for the NBMS Wellness Program, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong dedication to assisting individuals facing mental health, emotional, or social challenges. This role requires the ability to assess members’ needs, develop plans to improve their well‐being, connect them with resources and services while offering emotional support. In addition, the successful candidate will use their expertise to help design, execute and evaluate programs to meet the overall wellness needs of NBMS members.

Duties and Responsiblities

Program Intake and Navigation:

  • conduct initial member assessments, assess member needs, and determine a plan to improve their wellbeing
  • provide a welcoming, supportive, and confidential environment for members entering the program
  • offer information on the range of services available and guide members in accessing appropriate programs and resources
  • collaborate with community resources and make referrals to external services when necessary

 

Program Design and Development:

  • analyze member data and feedback to refine and improve programs to ensure they meet the diverse needs of physicians and aligns with organizational goals
  • identifying key areas of focus, including mental health counseling, addiction support, family/relationship counseling, and work‐life balance resources

 

Partnerships and Resource Development:

  • establish relationships with external providers, such as long‐term counseling services, addiction recovery programs, and community support agencies
  • work collaboratively with counselors, case managers, and other team members to ensure smooth referrals and appropriate member care pathways
  • build referral networks and collaborative partnerships to extend the scope and impact of the NBMS Wellness Program
  • participate in physician and medical student stakeholder events, workshops and seminars to promote and encourage participation in the NBMS wellness program

 

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:

  • monitor and evaluate program performance, using data to assess effectiveness, utilization rates, and outcomes
  • develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement, ensuring the program evolves to meet the changing needs of the physician workforce
  • prepare regular reports for senior leadership on program impact, utilization, and outcomes

 

Administrative Duties:

  • maintain accurate and confidential client records, following all relevant privacy legislation and organizational policies
  • support administrative tasks related to program delivery, including data entry, invoice reconciliation, maintaining up‐to‐date client files, and preparing reports as needed

 

Position Location and Hours of Work
This position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility of a remote option elsewhere in NB for the right
candidate. You may be required to work beyond the normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. ‐ 4:30 p.m. to accommodate
client needs. However, after‐work commitments are usually predictable and planned well in advance.
Flexible to travel within the province of New Brunswick and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Position Requirements
Education:

  • degree in Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, or a related field

 

Experience / Qualifications

  • minimum of 2‐5 years of experience in intake, assessment, clinical counseling, and program development

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • bilingual English and French is required
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to individuals in distress
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing client records and affiliate relationships
  • proven experience in designing and implementing mental health and wellness programs, ideally within a healthcare context
  • ability to shift priorities quickly and work in a program development environment
  • proficiency in data analysis, program evaluation, and reporting
  • value a positive work culture and comradery with your colleagues
  • ability to work hard and have fun

We are a clinic that has a Registered Social Worker with clinical experience to provide harm reduction and mental health services. The ideal candidate has experience and interest in working with any population needing assistance whether to compliment our current staff or to stand out and offer additional services.

You will be provided with the flexibility to create your own schedule.

You are renting an office space that is available Monday to Friday (excluding Thursdays).

·Hold at least a Bachelor of Social Work but a Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited university would be preferred.

·Are currently registered and “in good standing” with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers (NBASW) (license to be provided upon job interview).

·Have professional and commercial liability insurance (insurance to be provided upon job interview).
