The NBASW aims to review applications on a weekly basis. You will be contacted by the NBASW once all required application documents have been received, and a decision on your application has been made.

APPLICATION FEE
The $100.00 non-refundable application fee can be paid by:
- credit or debit HERE (Indicate Association number 7, Registration number 12345)
TWO REFERENCES FORM
Two reference forms must be submitted directly from the referees to the NBASW. At least one reference form must be provided by a social worker (by a field placement supervisor for recent graduates).

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK
Provide a Canadian criminal record check no more than three months old at the time of the application review.

COMPLETION OF CANADIAN/US ACCREDITED SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM
Required if the applicant has not been previously registered with NBASW.
- Applicants who have received their accredited Canadian or U.S. social work degree must ensure the University submits an official transcript directly to the NBASW.
- Applicants who have completed all the requirements of their accredited social work degree, but are awaiting their diploma must ensure:

Required if more than one year has passed since you have received your social work degree.
VERIFICATION OF REGISTRATION
Required if the applicant is currently or has been fully registered with a Canadian social work regulatory body. Complete one form for each applicable jurisdiction.

CASW ASSESSMENT (CREDENTIALS OUTSIDE CANADA/US)
Required if your social work degree is not from an accredited Canadian or US Social Work Program and you are not currently registered with another social work regulatory body in Canada. Review the CASW assessment of the international credentials process here.
Once CASW accepts your credentials as equivalent to a Canadian BSW or MSW degree, you may initiate registration with the NBASW. If you are not granted Canadian equivalency with the CASW, please contact the NBASW.
Please note that applicants must be residents of Canada or eligible to be residents of Canada to be eligible for NBASW membership.
NOTICE OF THE DECISION
Once all applicable application documents have been received, the application will be reviewed. The NBASW aims to review applications weekly. A notice of the decision will be sent to the applicant by email which will outline any conditions of approval that apply, or actions required.
PAYMENT OF MEMBERSHIP DUES
Upon approval of the application and fulfillment of conditions that may apply, the NBASW will request the full payment of dues applicable. Once all outstanding items have been received, the registration will be processed, and the successful applicant will be sent the official member card by email.
2024-2025 MEMBERSHIP DUES
Dues will only be requested upon application approval and will be required in full to receive NBASW membership.
- Practicing Member: $409
- Practicing Member: Pro-rated
*applies to recent graduates from current fiscal year (April – March)
- Practicing Member: $204.50
*for applicants who begin registration after September 30th
- Non-Practicing Member: $120
Prorated - The annual membership fee for applicants who register within the fiscal year following their graduation is calculated on a prorated basis. The NBASW fiscal year runs April 1st to March 31st each year. To begin membership in the following months, the applicable prorated dues are as follows:
